Lost

You! A damsel in distress All you sought is approval  You built a wall around your heart Plagued by your insecurities He cleverly plunged his way through Mirroring your every weakness. Just when the die is cast As if he said "open sesame" You broke your walls, and lowered your guards. He sweeps you off the solid ground Leaves you floating in the air He wraps your body in pulsating grip Pleasures you in ways untold You have found the one you think. You let everything else disappear Click here to read "Battled" He said the slum is his favorite place So you left your daddy's palace He says you're pretty just in red You comb the malls and markets Taking every red in sight He says you're everything gold Just he likes them fierce and bold You throw that coyish girl away You Cinderella now Sasha Fierce You desire to keep your man He says he likes the show And so you puppet on Soon the show is over Your darli...

Beauty in my eyes

Image
Clothed in strength and dignity Wrapped in an apparel so alluring and pure A fragrance of kindness and truth Surrounds her very actions She never talks, but speaks She walks in abundance of grace Smile so powerful It can heal a wounded soldier She is without doubt A beauty to behold Poem by: Joy Ngofaa This poem was performed live on stage  at the grand finale of Miss Port Harcourt City Contest 2018. Battled

Image
I feel the cloud of sadness Upon my heavy head I should think the firmament Hasn't sent it's sun over my face My heart is sunken To the depths of my soul I'm driven to drunkenness and parties With the hope of laughter I find some merry Which soon fizzles out Just like the smoke in a chimney Low in my troubled soul The bridge calls out to me Singing to my freedom I could dive into the sweet melodies To the arms of fresh tormoil The drugs have promised peace One kiss and I'm at ease My sanity will then be gone Trapped in euphoria would I be The world has dished me many blows My heart races to and fro The weight of many pounds Upon my shoulders My pain no one cares to know When my hope of life is gone And then seek I to breath my last He calls me by his saving grace Embraced by love, I smile again The sun, it's spreads it's many rays Pouring laughter over me Written by:  Joy Ngofaa  Model: Nimi Ngiangia Would you...

Mask

Image
Sadness could be found bound behind the mask of a clown. Something i learnt too early in life. I am a woman, queen, seen with priceless smile, I wear the gown and bear the crown, I comb libraries and also my hair To look more beauty-fool for that's how i feel. Because within, i burn, even at dawn, Full of thoughts that i burn my bread in the oven too. As a queen, I'm healthy and ready, Everyone wants to see me happy, To smile and rule their world. And sadly, i have ruled out my world, Hidden in a closet, alone, a lone woman, I cry, I sigh, I die. I take off my Mask, the marks and scars scare me when i gaze into a mirror.  The pain in my heart, my hat in my hand.  My tears, fears for years,, no one cares. To know how i feel, no one dares. For I am a happy lady, sappy beauty, hardly worry. Am funny and rich, they want sum of money and some honey. Me, a helpless, hapless, hazy Lady. Poem by: Her Excellency. ...

Risen from Ruins

Image
Time goes, tick and tock, Not to pause, not to stop, Not a moment to be a friend. Not to care of how i do. Tragedies strikes, ship on the wreck, Hope and life all to sink, But greater heights my heart is set, So the struggle not to die. Risen From Ruins , the day is come, When crown shall be for crosses; Blessing for curses, boom for doom, And medal worn around my neck  Poem by: Her Excellency. Model: Tumminy Pepple

Naked

Image
Alone with her My thoughts rage wilder My soul is lifted Though my body resisted My heart still insisted. Even without putting up a show; She peeps through my soul All I see is shadows Where all my fears wallow What will you have me say? My heart races than usain My thoughts could sink an ocean Silent Words too heavy for Samson Wish I could have them spoken But as usual she made to leave And am still lost in disbelief She's had me in friend zone Together but am riding solo. As she leaves me in shadows And am now naked as the snow Written by: Daniel Etim

BOOGIE MAN

Image
Mr. Pedophile what gave you strength? Was it my little brown eyes glowing with care? A little girl with much hopes and dreams Cursed to fear the word “please” As they gave you fortitude to push on to your limits                                                                          Abandoning physics, I was turned and spanned to fit your will Mr. Pedophile I was only six What immense fetish of yours gave rise to desire a kid? I had no flourishing bosoms Just my bow and my baby powder fragrance And yet when you held me in your hand with much affection I thought you meant well and I felt safe That an adult who know...

More

Image
She said she wanted just to say "hi" and after we talked for hours and more it became a problem to say "bye" He said he just wanted to see my smiles, but we would then hold hands and walk miles. She wanted just to talk and talk we did until it wasn't enough she wanted more. She said she does not like hugs so we shook hands but as time passed it was not enough any more. we just had to get more so we hugged for seconds and it grew from minutes into some thing that looked like a cuddle, but the affection was still not enough, so every once in a while we would give each other pecks on the chick and it was nice and all but we wanted more, so we kissed once and again and again.   It was cloudy and windy one lovely evening. Even a blind man could tell that the rain was coming, the power was out and she and I as though we were opposites of a magnet came closer and closer, she wanted to cuddle, so we cuddled and cuddled until our clothes left our bodies ...

What's Past

Image
A step in front leaves it all behind When back, it stays with you With it, all prospects are blind They never get to come true A day with it is like a night with no stars Where, you don't get to see what's ahead Even while looking up and forward But only beholding the darkness around you It is a companion, one so troublesome Who doesn't wait out the storm But comes with the storm And you may never move away, even when it comes Yes,What's past is gone and for good But you've got a mind to rule Either you stay mourn its departure Then someday scream mea culpa!mea culpa!! Or look ahead, preparing for the future. Written by Daniel Etim Model: Nimi Ngiangia

Light Up

Image
I am light,  I am not the mistakes I have made, I am not anything that causes pain, I am not a fragment of a broken piece. I am whole, Of body and of soul, not incomplete. Not the piece of some shattered dream. I am really not what words can tell. I am awesome and wonderful. I am not perfect and I am not there yet, But this me that I am I like, I love and I adore, because I am a star. A light, a precious gem,  I stand out as the star that brightens the night. I AM LIGHT and so are you. I am Kenneth Ferdinand.  and it is time to shine your light, it is time to LIGHT UP Written by: Ferdinand Kenneth. The mind

Image
Trapped in dramatic illusions Lost in the realm of notions Catapulted to a world of fancy indulgence The mind in its own is a globe Porous and wide in scope. The creepy events that betide within Hidden by walls unseen The  site of embellished desires Decorated by dribs of nefariousness That thrives in solitude. If one could see the mind of another Or the intents of a neighbor Rather than hoaxed expositions A shield for perpetrations. Who can discern The unscrupulous form of the mind But the proprietor. So I think not upon utterances But wonder I deliberately Upon the man that lies within The mind. Written by: Miss Joy Ngofaa Model: Miss Nimi Ngiangia

Memoir of a Writer ( The concluding part )

Image
Continues from the previous post. Click  Here God loves us all, equally. So, I don't compare people. I've held this notion Right from my high school days. I would rather say I respect people than compare them. To me, comparison brings a flare of preference. Inferiority and superiority come to play with this word. I respect people; big, small, black or white. But the degree to which I respect, depends on the individual. It gives a clarity that two individuals have equal opportunity  to earn my respect. The world of comparison gives a false benchmark that can be exceeded, if not in view. This too is a mirage. I also discovered that the difference between poverty and wealth, is a thin line. The difference between wealth and health is a thin line. The difference between what is not and what is, is a thin line. That thin line is faith. Faith is a virtue that should never be misplaced. It got a source; it starts and ends with God. Having faith opens ...

FIRST KISS

Image
My first kiss I remembered like it was a minute ago.  It was terribly fierce,  It took all of my will First, I rejected  But his arms brought my body to the heat of his.  This was it, his eyes met mine and all I could see was unraveled mysteries  I took his minty breath in as my oxygen  And as his lips nearly touched mine, I closed my eyes slowly to hide my doubting fears.  My soul was all for it, but my body fought relentlessly.  His strong arms built like a machine ,relaxed every contraction within my body.  He was the king of kisses.  He just needed me in control,  But I was like an untamed animal Wanted out of the cage.  With his hands, he caressed my face First my lips, to my cheeks, then slowly  He moved down to my neck and gave me tiny little kisses. I mourned and all I could whisper was "stop" But like the king he was He knew his subject had succumbed.  H...

Memoir of a Writer

Image
I've learnt alot lately, More than the strokes of my pen can relay Its like awakening into a new, fresh viand of truth. A fancy in which my fixation finds root. The world is a mirage. I discovered that the person who makes fun of others Just to feel good and special is as inferior as The person who let's those words get to him I've discovered that the world in general is starked With inferior people who can paint black white And make right look wrong. I see this everyday. I also see people who feel By following a crowd You earn fame and relevance An unscrupulous people Who trade tomorrow for today A taboo they do for a lark I'm frantic about this because it drills pain Through my heart's core That no analgesia can relieve I discovered that being morally sound Does not make you a person Neither does being immoral make you a better person. You see, the world is just a fuse of confused people Trying to gain worth by morality or im...

Here is what I think about love

Image
Love is like a journey It flows through various paths Sometimes it feels like honey It makes your heart throb fast. You may have some euphoria And even lost in thought And then your eyes will flicker The teasing sign of warmth. True love it knows not envy It keeps not hurting past It fills your heart with merry Forever it does last. They say true love never dies But this am yet to know And true love they say don't lie I'll know this when am old.

A love journey

Image
Let's travel on a journey Far away from home To a place where its just us two And fill our hearts with merry We'll sing with birds and fly with kite We'll build our castle made of sand We'll touch the ocean and climb mountains We may touch heaven too Our hearts and mind united as one And many more untold The birds will hum, and rivers flow They'll sing a song for us both We'll dance around the fire place Beyond the horizon of the setting sun We'll tell dark tales of terror And then hold hands in fright. We'll always be together Until the day we're old.

My night time poem

Image
Silence sweeps the sky And birds hide in the dark The stars like diamond dazzle And shooting lights they sparkle The wind it sweeps the sun and moonlight fills the heaven The stars shine all night long Just as the clock strikes seven The trees dance to the wind And grasses bow in awe The crickets chirp in the field As fireflies astound all Now your eyes are heavy Just as your eyelids quiver Shhhhh listen dearie, To a night time poem that's mine

Perfect Gent

Image
Eyes like snow Lips as rose Towering and strong So were his nose Face kind and noble Pure and dependable With a glow of beauty And genuine masculinity Voice endearing with hope His voice sounded like the wind Blowing swiftly over my ears I fell completely As I gazed continually Into those cold eyes of his I wish for more than anything For a gentle touch I wanted him to hold me Effortlessly against his masculine cavity To feel the scent and warmth Of his cold embrace As I tried to move closer Maybe kiss him if I could The greatest surprise of all Came when I finally saw This perfect gent I saw Was just a hallucination. Wounded Soldier

Image
The couriers leave tomorrow               She's told With patience she sews the soldier's              Frock And every tear turns the needle             Icy cold Expectation turns to despair as the       cocks crow. It's dawn The ship sails for home tomorrow                She hopes Carefully she lays out the master's                Robes Once again smoke lines the chimney                Walls Expectation turns to doubt as she endle...
