Light Up




I am light, 
I am not the mistakes I have made,
I am not anything that causes pain,
I am not a fragment of a broken piece.

I am whole,
Of body and of soul, not incomplete.
Not the piece of some shattered dream.
I am really not what words can tell.
I am awesome and wonderful.










I am not perfect and I am not there yet,
But this me that I am I like,
I love and I adore, because I am a star.
A light, a precious gem,
 I stand out as the star that brightens the night.

I AM LIGHT and so are you.
I am Kenneth Ferdinand.

You ask everyone of your pupil to sit in their chairs and put their heads on their desk. The school is against such system of the kids idling away while they could be doing something, but you need the break, you try to convince yourself. Your face is buried in your palms on the table, your eyes shut tight, but the images keep flouting. One and two and three at a time. You keep hearing the voices over and over again. When mama asked Sam to go to the store opposite their house to get her baking powder, neither her nor Sam knew their life was about to change. Tomorrow, it'd be second August again and Mary will go out to China town. She'd buy herself some beautiful Chinese lanterns and all sorts of decor she can remember. Each year, they become less because of her amnesia. Then she'd stop by her favourite Chinese restaurant and buy everyone sushi. Dad will help take out everything in the garage and she'll set up her decorations, it had become some kind of ritual, one that only both of them understood. She'd set up dinner table for two and she'd place two seats. When the clock strikes nine in the night and the star lights are in place, for some bizarre reason, there are always star lights in the sky on the second of August. Its as if even God understands that the night lights are important to her.
