Jane was waiting around the corner. He had texted her that he was coming out, would she want to walk with him? Yes was the answer.
She put her hand over his eyes, standing behind him immediately he crossed her path.
“Jane” he said. She took her hands off, laughing excitedly like they hadn't already met at school earlier in the day. He turned around, holding her face in his hands. She stepped out of his hands giving him a disapproving glare. He grinned.
“Teens shouldn't kiss like it's tea they must drink” he laughed.”Seriously, Sam. I think we should wait till we get married. “
His mouth hung open, the smile fading off his face. “Do you have a fever?” He asked her
“No. Why?”
“You sound strange. Did I offend you?”
“No Sam,” Placing her hands on his shoulder. “Not you; the school’s evangelist”
Sam arched his brow. “What about him? You're seeing him?”
“No Sam.” Taking her hands off his shoulders and crossing them over each other. “He says it's not right for teens to kiss like it's tea, and that's just the least.”
“He's a poet or something? That isn't even in the bible” Taking her hands. “And you aren't even a Christian. You shouldn't listen to the evangelist. I should, but I won't because he's wrong”
She takes her hand from he’s
“He says we can't hold hands too?” Sam asks sarcastically, arching his brow in his usual fashion, the left brow tilted lower than the right brow.
Jane gave him the glare.
“I'm a Christian now, Sam”
“You can't be, Jane”
Looking bewildered, “Why not?”
“Your dad will kill you”
“No, Sam. He approves of it. He says religion is a good thing for a woman, but it'll make a man mad.”
“I think your dad is quite mad already” Sam said.
“Sam!” She exclaims.
“Will you give me a last kiss?” Sam asked. She shook her head. “Even Judas gave Jesus a parting kiss. You don't know the bible that much, yet. You just converted this afternoon.” Arched “You can ask the evangelist later”
A curious look lit her face as she weighed his demand.
“Just one.” She said. Sam smiled. “Just one, Sam, promise”
“I cross my heart.” He said, his palms finding her face, bringing her in. Their lips found each other. Seconds turned into a minute, then to minutes. There are no wall clocks when two lovers meet. When those two are teens, the world cease to exist.
And so were they transfixed.
